About The Position

Responsible for configuration item (CI) management and IT asset lifecycle management across the full software/hardware delivery lifecycle — from acquisition through retirement/disposal. Ensures CIs and asset records remain accurate, current, and compliant with corporate and government configuration management (CM) and asset management (ITAM) policies. Bridges Configuration Management and Asset Management functions to maintain a single, reliable source of truth for what the organization owns, deploys, and supports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 2–5 years in configuration management and change control, including configuration identification (Security, Functional, Allocated, Product Baselines), Configuration Control, Configuration Status Accounting, and Physical Configuration Audits; experience with IT asset lifecycle tracking (procurement through disposal) and software license compliance.
  • Must possess a Secret Clearance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; well organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with a CM tool such as Jira, ServiceNow, ClearCase, RAZOR, or TFS, and its Asset Management module.
  • Experience with standard file naming conventions and logical directory/CMDB structures.
  • Familiarity with software license models (Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, etc.) and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with full software development lifecycles (agile and waterfall).
  • Comfortable in an environment with evolving/unstable requirements; customer-service oriented and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, documents, and baselines Configuration Items (hardware, software, deliverables, documentation, processes) with program teams.
  • Creates and maintains Baseline Configurations per the Configuration Management Plan; documents the interim baseline and associated CI documentation list.
  • Administers the Configuration Management System (e.g., TFS, Jira, ServiceNow, SharePoint) as subject matter expert, ensuring CI records reflect DISA STIG-compliant baseline configurations and secure end-states.
  • Tracks Change Requests with Change Control Boards (CCBs) and Requirements Analysts; records CCB decisions, assignments, and notes.
  • Performs configuration audits at the team level; audits for compliance with the CM plan, division policy, and ASM's AIMM.
  • Identifies and closes documentation CI gaps; maintains CI records in the Configuration Management System.
  • Supports RMF documentation by aligning configuration baselines and CI records with system security plans and eMASS artifacts.
  • Owns the full IT asset lifecycle — procurement intake, receipt, deployment, maintenance, refresh, retirement, and disposal — for hardware, software, and licenses.
  • Maintains accurate inventory and CI-to-asset linkage in the ITAM/CMDB tool; reconciles asset records against configuration baselines.
  • Tracks software license entitlements and usage; identifies compliance gaps and supports audit/true-up activity.
  • Coordinates asset tagging, check-in/check-out, and ownership/location tracking, including full accountability and reporting for Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE) per Government property tracking requirements.
  • Conducts periodic physical audits and inventory reconciliations; resolves discrepancies between physical assets, CMDB, and financial/asset records.
  • Manages end-of-life disposal/decommissioning in compliance with data sanitization and CI retirement procedures, ensuring associated CI records are closed out.
  • Supports refresh-cycle and total-cost-of-ownership forecasting using asset and configuration data.
  • Generates release baseline packages and gathers metrics on baseline/asset accuracy for leadership reporting.
  • Recommends improvements to the baseline configuration intake process and asset lifecycle workflows.
