The South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) is seeking a Confidential Case Officer to join their sensitive intelligence collection team, based in London and attached to the National Crime Agency. This role is within a department with a unique function in policing, providing intelligence support to operations across forces, ROCUs, and partner agencies. You will be involved in challenging investigations targeting high-harm areas such as murder, kidnap, organised immigration crime, drug importation and supply, and the use and supply of illegal firearms. The position involves monitoring, assessing, and disseminating intelligence from sensitive tactics, directly impacting policing operations by preventing threats to life, safeguarding vulnerable people, and identifying enforcement opportunities against criminals causing significant harm. This is a varied and fulfilling career in a demanding environment where no two days are the same. Your work will be crucial in achieving significant results and disrupting organised crime in the South West. You will have the opportunity to work with advanced technology, tactics, and teams to combat complex and sophisticated modern organised crime. This role is best suited for individuals experienced in intelligence who can adapt to a demanding role, including early and late shifts, and accommodate overtime and shift changes as circumstances require. Training and mentoring will be provided, but candidates must be motivated, professional, and excellent communicators, comfortable with giving and receiving direction. Experience with computer systems, data, intelligence, and covert policing would be highly beneficial. The ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team is essential. SWROCU is a collaboration of police officers and staff from five South West regional forces, part of a national network of nine ROCUs. They focus on pursuing offenders, protecting and preparing individuals and organisations, and preventing serious and organised crime through various capabilities. They work with local forces and national partners to disrupt criminals involved in cyber threats, economic crime, drug conspiracies, modern slavery, human trafficking, and child sexual abuse and exploitation.
