About The Position

This position is responsible for moving condemned poultry from the processing area to the rendering area. The role involves locating and transporting product on drains and major walkways to the rendering area, and transporting condemned barrels to correct areas using a two-wheelbarrow cart. The handler may also spray condemned barrels with red dye and record information about condemned products on forms. Additionally, the role requires monitoring for condensation and mopping as needed, and participating as a member of the team to foster cohesiveness and support team concepts, programs, and policies. The handler must be familiar with Simmons' operating systems and understand their role in supporting these systems, including communicating concerns and improvement ideas. This position description is intended to guide activities and is not exhaustive.

Requirements

  • Be able to efficiently work in a plant environment.
  • Regularly required to stand, reach and move about the facility.
  • Light to moderate physical effort required.
  • Frequent bending at the waist.
  • Will use waterproof footwear, gloves, apron, hearing protection, hair net(s) and other protective equipment as needed or required.
  • Communication skills & decision quality - Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience working around machinery.
  • Preference for working knowledge of a processing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Locating and transporting product on drains and major walkways to rendering area.
  • Transports condemn barrels to correct areas by using a two wheelbarrow cart.
  • May spray condemn barrels with red dye.
  • May record information of condemned products on forms.
  • Keep an eye out for condensation, mops as needed.
  • Participates as a member of the Team.
  • Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
