About The Position

Western Specialty Contractors is looking for self-motivated individuals to serve as a Concrete Foreman at our Indianapolis, IN location. This role is responsible for the performance of work within a particular work area and in accordance with generally accepted standards of the crafts. As a member of the branch production team, you will be responsible for ensuring construction complies with drawings and specifications and meets quality standards. You will also act as the competent person on the job, identifying and mitigating hazards to ensure employee safety.

Abilities to work at heights, at extreme temperatures, and to wear company's safety equipment are essential
Experience in a trade or craft is required, preferably in concrete and masonry.

Responsibilities

Set forms
Set the appropriate subbase/grade for new concrete
Run heavy equipment needed to remove existing concrete (i.e.: skid loader w/ breaker, air hammers, mini excavator)
Manage crew and lead others during pours
Finish slab on grade concrete, parking garage slabs, sidewalks, curb, and gutter, etc.
Supervise workers assigned to area of responsibility to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications and meets quality standards
Act as the competent person on the job by identifying existing and predictable hazards which are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to employees and halting any operation or removes employees from environments that may be dangerous
Mix cement, using hoe or concrete mixing machine
Load, transport, unload, and furnish experienced craft worker with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary
Rigging of mobile and stationery scaffolding on structures in accordance with corporate guidelines
Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and workpieces during installation
Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of journeyman's tools and equipment
Perform other routine duties as directed by craft worker
Remove rough or defective spots from concrete using grinder, hammer, and/or chisel. May patch holes
Supervise & coordinate the activities of assigned workers, establish and adjust work sequences to meet construction schedules, and communicate progress to superintendent
Ensure that workers know and understand the company's safety policies
Maintain liaison with customer's representative and advise superintendent and/or project manager of potential problems.
