About The Position

Western Specialty Contractors is seeking self-motivated individuals to serve as a Concrete Foreman at our Omaha, NE location. As a member of the branch production team, you will be responsible for the performance of work within a particular work area and in accordance with generally accepted standards of the crafts. This role requires the ability to run concrete jobs from start to finish, including prepped concrete, concrete grading, forming, finishing, and pouring. You will also be responsible for understanding and completing paperwork, including tracking labor, manpower used, and achievements. The position involves setting the appropriate subbase/grade for new concrete, reading simple drawings, and operating heavy equipment for concrete removal. You will manage crews, lead others during pours, and be proficient in finishing various concrete applications. The Concrete Foreman supervises workers to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications, acts as the competent person on site to identify and mitigate hazards, and may perform tasks such as mixing cement, loading/transporting materials, cleaning work areas, rigging scaffolding, and performing minor maintenance or repairs to concrete. You will also supervise and coordinate worker activities, communicate progress, ensure safety policies are followed, and liaise with customer representatives.

• Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment; and see (naturally or with correction).
• Abilities to work at heights, at extreme temperatures, and to wear company's safety equipment are essential.
• Experience in a trade or craft is required, preferably in concrete and masonry.

Responsibilities

• Run concrete jobs from start to finish, including prepped concrete, concrete grading, forming, finishing, and pouring.
• Understand and complete paperwork, including tracking labor, manpower used, and achievements.
• Set the appropriate subbase/grade for new concrete.
• Read simple drawings.
• Operate heavy equipment needed to remove existing concrete (i.e.: skid loader w/ breaker, air hammers, mini excavator).
• Manage crew and lead others during pours.
• Be proficient in finishing slab on grade concrete, parking garage slabs, sidewalks, curb, and gutter, etc.
• Supervise workers assigned to area of responsibility to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications and meets quality standards.
• Act as the competent person on the job by identifying existing and predictable hazards which are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to employees and halting any operation or removing employees from environments that may be dangerous.
• Mix cement, using hoe or concrete mixing machine.
• Load, transport, unload, and furnish experienced craft worker with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
• Rigging of mobile and stationery scaffolding on structures in accordance with corporate guidelines.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and workpieces during installation.
• Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of journeyman's tools and equipment.
• Perform other routine duties as directed by craft worker.
• Remove rough or defective spots from concrete using grinder, hammer, and/or chisel. May patch holes.
• Supervise & coordinate the activities of assigned workers, establish and adjust work sequences to meet construction schedules, and communicate progress to superintendent.
• Ensure that workers know and understand the company's safety policies.
• Maintain liaison with customer's representative and advise superintendent and/or project manager of potential problems.
