About The Position

The Concrete Finisher is responsible for setting forms, cleaning surfaces, directing concrete casting, pouring, smoothing, leveling, and finishing concrete on various surfaces. This role involves monitoring weather effects on curing, applying sealing and hardening components, operating vibrators for compaction, and constructing expansion joints. The position also includes polishing surfaces and finishing concrete pads, sidewalks, and walls. The role may involve other reasonable directives and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Expertly pour, level, and smooth concrete on a variety of surfaces including roads, sidewalks, curbs, and floors.
  • May also be required to set the forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, cut expansion joints, and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high-quality finish.
  • Must receive a satisfactory pre-hire drug screen and background check.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record. REAL ID compliant identification required.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements.
  • Willingness to work within the union.

Responsibilities

  • Setting forms that hold the concrete in place.
  • Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.
  • Directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver.
  • Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed (handheld and power tool versions).
  • Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process.
  • Applying sealing and hardening components.
  • Safely operating a power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted.
  • Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.
  • Polishing surfaces using a power surfacing machine.
  • Finishing large concrete pads, sidewalks, and rubbing of concrete walls.
