About The Position

This role involves a variety of tasks related to concrete finishing and cement masonry in an industrial construction setting. The Concrete Finisher/Cement Mason will be responsible for preparing and applying concrete, ensuring proper mix and texture, operating various tools and equipment, and maintaining a safe work environment. The position requires the ability to work on uneven terrain, at heights, and with precision on specialized tasks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 48 months of industrial construction experience.
  • Ability to identify grade.
  • Ability to perform a broom finish.
  • Ability to run vibrator for up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to perform tie-ins from one life to the next.
  • Ability to safely traverse uneven terrain with/without tools and building materials.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving safe, dexterous use of hand tools.
  • Ability to safely operate power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to stand or walk on rebar mats (narrow surfaces).
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs and work at heights.
  • Adherence to all safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Mixes grout, verifying mix specifics including temperature and grout/water quantity, and ensuring grout prep is completed as specified.
  • Flags concrete trucks and checks truck tickets to verify the correct mix is being used.
  • Removes rough or defective spots from concrete using a grinder, hammer, and/or chisel.
  • Wets and rubs concrete with an abrasive stone to impart the appropriate finish.
  • Screeds, floats, and trowels poured concrete floors, walls, and sidewalks to specified textures using hand tools or power tools, identifying grade.
  • Operates power trowels and concrete saws during paving operations.
  • Directs concrete to the forms and spreads it to a specified depth and workable consistency.
  • Molds expansion joints and edges using jointers, straight edge, and edging tools, performing a broom finish.
  • Runs vibrator for up to 8 hours and performs tie-ins from one life to the next.
  • Assists in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
  • Cleans tools and equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Safely traverses uneven terrain with/without tools and building materials.
  • Performs a variety of tasks involving safe, dexterous use of hand tools.
  • Safely operates power tools and equipment.
  • Stands or walks on rebar mats (narrow surfaces).
  • Climbs ladders or stairs and works at heights.
