About The Position

Southland Holdings is seeking experienced Concrete Finishers and Carpenters to join their team. This role involves building rough wooden structures such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters. The position requires a strong understanding of construction practices, the ability to read drawings and plans, and a commitment to safety and quality. This is a long-term employment opportunity with constant work nationwide.

Requirements

  • 5 years as a Concrete Finisher
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, including equipment operational and/or safety manuals.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and team work skills.
  • 5+ years of carpentry/form setting experience within the construction industry.
  • Ability to finish concrete to grade and straight edged.
  • Treat equipment with care and keep tools clean.
  • Ability to read and understand rebar plans.
  • Be able to work with metric, feet, and hundredths measurements.
  • Reads and understands plans and specifications.
  • Able to survey grid-lines and elevation.

Responsibilities

  • Build rough wooden structures such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters.
  • Set forms, tie rebar, pour and finish concrete.
  • Use string line for line and level.
  • Read rebar and form drawings.
  • Follow safety rules at all times.
  • Use forming systems: Aluminum Gang Form, Simons, EFCO, Stick Frames, Wood Forms.
  • Finish assigned tasks on time with high standards of quality.
  • Construct, erect, install, and repair structures, and fixtures of wood, and plywood.
  • May weld metal parts to steel structural members.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
  • Hang ledgers, overhang brackets and decking with plywood and steel.
  • Place rebar curtains and mats.
  • Form slabs, columns and walls for concrete pours.
  • Ensure all parts of structures are plumb and square and true.
  • Know all proper signals for crane work.
  • Work with metric, feet, and hundredths measurements.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Survey grid-lines and elevation.
