Concierge / Apartment Building Superintendent
About The Position
Committed to providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for its occupants, our client in Ottawa is seeking a versatile Apartment Building Superintendent to support the day-to-day maintenance of its residential properties. As an Apartment Building Superintendent, you will serve as the on-site point of contact responsible for ensuring the proper operation and upkeep of the buildings under your care. You will help maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment by performing regular inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs. You will also contribute to creating a pleasant living environment by responding to residents' needs and identifying situations that require specialized maintenance services.
Requirements
- Previous experience in building maintenance, property maintenance, custodial services, or a similar role
- Good physical condition and the ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks
- Ability to work outdoors in all seasons
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills
- Resourceful with strong problem-solving abilities
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Bilingual in English and French, both spoken and written
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- A satisfactory criminal background check is required
Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning and maintenance of common areas, including hallways, entrance lobbies, stairwells, shared rooms, and other common spaces
- Clean windows, doors, elevators, and other common surfaces
- Sweep, mop, and maintain floors
- Remove garbage and recycling according to the established schedule
- Perform seasonal outdoor maintenance, including litter collection, light snow removal from entrances and walkways, and the application of ice-melting materials, as required
- Carry out minor maintenance and repair work, including painting, adjustments, light bulb replacement, and various small repairs
- Conduct regular building inspections to identify deficiencies, damage, or maintenance needs
- Report issues requiring the services of specialized contractors
- Respond to routine requests from tenants and condominium owners in a professional and courteous manner
- Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and the property management team
- Perform any other related duties required to ensure the proper maintenance of the buildings
