About The Position

The Designer is responsible for the design and 2D/3D modeling of parts and assemblies, as well as conducting analyses and resolving production-related issues. The Designer also produces 2D drawings from 3D models while ensuring compliance with the client’s or SOGECLAIR’s engineering drawing standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • DEC in Aerospace Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong knowledge of First Article Inspection (FAI) processes
  • Proficiency with design and modeling software such as CATIA V5, 3DVia, and NX
  • Knowledge of Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems, such as SAP and BaaN
  • Knowledge of Teamcenter software
  • Bilingualism (French and English), both written and spoken

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the aerospace or manufacturing industry is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Mentor Graphics or CorelDRAW is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of design and product lifecycle management software such as AutoCAD, SmarTeam, Enovia, and MBOM is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop parts and assemblies in accordance with customer requirements and industry standards
  • Modify existing designs or create 3D models of parts and assemblies
  • Develop and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications for various components and assemblies
  • Revise and incorporate changes into technical drawings
  • Standardize 3D models and engineering drawings according to customer and industry standards
  • Analyze and evaluate engineering change requests
  • Research technical documentation and specifications when not provided by the customer
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve technical and production-related issues
  • Provide technical support to Production and Engineering teams
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of quality procedures
  • Share technical knowledge and best practices with team members
  • Review assembly work instructions and manufacturing documentation
  • Understand and comply with AS9100 requirements related to the responsibilities of this position
  • Follow the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and apply the appropriate tools in the execution of assigned tasks
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned
