About The Position

The Computer Works Technician tests and refurbishes donated computers for resale or recycling and prices computers and electronics according to department standards. The role assesses donated equipment, tests and prepares computers and components, and supports customers with technical questions, service, and upgrades. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. A post-offer background check is required to ensure the applicant meets eligibility requirements for the assigned customer or location. Alternative work locations may be offered as appropriate.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
2–3 years of experience working in the technology industry.
Proficient knowledge of computer software and hardware components.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at times.
Ability to stand, bend, and twist for eight hours.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience with pallet jacks, dock operations, and warehousing.

Responsibilities

Assess the value of donated computers and parts and determine their next step.
Test, build, and image donated computers.
Test internal components.
Test and wipe hard drives to Reconnect standards.
Obtain technical and component information.
Package, price, and stock components and systems for purchase.
Answer technical questions and provide customer support, service, and upgrades.
Minimize returns and exchanges of parts and systems through accuracy and attention to detail.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
