About The Position

Nextonic Solutions is seeking a Computer Systems Analyst to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the Intramural Research Program (IRP) at the National Institute on Aging (NIA). There is an essential need for continued and logistical support to ensure the efficient, compliant, and effective operations of the IRP.

Requirements

• Computer generated work including developing and maintaining the DNA sequence analysis software tools with C and Perl
• Sustain a full cohort of nucleic acid and protein analysis programs, prepare submissions of annotated sequence and enter them in international databases
• Install and maintain Oracle Database system
• Develop selected STSs and ESTs from cDNAs, track and link data on in situ hybridization of cDNA probes to whole mount and sectioned mouse embryos, and backcross map of cDNAs to locations within 1 Mb on mouse chromosomes
• Work products and documents related to advising on the adaptation of standard genetics mapping packages for linkage and association studies to longitudinal studies of inherited aging-related traits
• Work products and documents related to interacting with several groups of scientists requiring information and advice on computer-based gene and gnomic DNA analysis

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the DNA sequence analysis software tools with C and Perl
• Organize and perform sequence interpretation of cDNA samples, and large tracts of mouse genomic DNA
• Sustain a full cohort of nucleic acid and protein analysis programs, prepare submissions of annotated sequence and enter them in international databases
• Install and maintain Oracle Database system; provide hardware support to interface computers in the Laboratory of Genetics with servers and external networks
• Develop selected STSs and ESTs from cDNAs; tracking and linking data on in situ hybridization of cDNA probes to whole mount and sectioned mouse embryos; and back-cross mapping of cDNAs to locations within 1 Mb on mouse chromosomes
• Provide advice on the adaptation of standard genetic mapping packages for linkage and association studies to longitudinal studies of inherited aging-related traits
• Interact with several groups of scientists requiring information and advice on computer-based gene and genomic DNA analysis
