About The Position

General Motors is seeking Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) professionals to join their team. This role involves independent project management and leadership in planning and executing full vehicle and subsystems models for programs, aligning with time and consumer requirements. The position requires collaboration with various teams, including Vehicle Performance Integration, Design Release, Design Engineering, Suppliers, Performance, and Program teams, to develop and refine model build plans while assessing and mitigating risks. The role also involves leading globally distributed teams, performing risk assessments, monitoring progress, and ensuring the quality and timely delivery of models. Additionally, the position requires active participation in process improvement meetings, leading root cause analysis for quality improvements on safety, body, trim structure, and flex models, and identifying opportunities for efficiency in master model builds. A key aspect of the role is applying process integration principles and staying updated with new modeling technologies to provide technical leadership for road-to-lab-to-math projects aligned with technology roadmaps.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field of study.
  • Eight (8) years of experience as a CAE Engineer, Specialist, Senior Analyst, Project Leader, or related occupation.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Creating full Vehicle Safety, Trimmed Structure, Complex vehicle subsystem CAE models and analysis and synthesis of vehicle CAE loadcases.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Vehicle development process and cross functional interfaces.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) theory and application.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Computer aided software tools including ANSA, HYPERMESH, LS-DYNA, Optistruct and NASTRAN, ABAQUS, Primer, and Siemens NX and Catia.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Project management.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Full vehicle assembly.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Perform risk assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Independent Project Management and leadership in planning and execution of full vehicle and subsystems models for programs to process time and consumer requirements.
  • Collaborate with VDDV consumer base and develop robust statement of requirements for each modelling event.
  • Interact, proactively engage, effectively communicate and co-ordinate with Vehicle Performance Integration Manager, Design Release Engineer, Design Engineer, Suppliers, Performance, and Program teams to develop and refine plans for model builds while continuously assessing and mitigating risk.
  • Lead and leverage globally distributed team for model builds.
  • Perform risk assessment, monitor progress and enable first time quality and on time delivery of models.
  • Actively participate and contribute to department process, speed and quality improvement meetings.
  • Lead conducting robust root cause and preventive action summary on quality improvement opportunities on full vehicle safety, body, trim structure and flex models.
  • Identify and lead efficiency and effectiveness improvement opportunities for master models builds.
  • Actively apply process integration principles on day-to-day activities and propose improvements.
  • Perform full Virtual Vehicle assembly, integration and quality checks on models.
  • Stay abreast with new modelling technology and apply on the projects being executed.
  • Provide technical leadership and lead road to lab to math projects in alignment with Technology Roadmaps and Vision for modelling enterprise.
