About The Position

We’re looking for a high-energy, innovative, and influential CAE engineer to join our Dynamics & NVH analysis team. In this role, you’ll drive cutting-edge FEA-based structural dynamics and NVH analysis across ICE, PHEV, and BEV propulsion systems. You’ll work on a wide range of components—from electric drive units to engines, turbos, exhaust systems, and structural hardware— playing a key role in shaping designs through advanced simulation and clear, compelling technical communication. This is a highly visible role where your ability to translate complex analysis into actionable insights will directly influence engineering decisions across GM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience with FEA tools (e.g., Abaqus, OptiStruct)
  • Strong foundation in structural dynamics and NVH principles
  • Working knowledge of ICE, PHEV, and BEV system integration
  • Proven problem-solving ability with experience addressing vehicle-level challenges in production environments
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills with the ability to clearly present technical content to leadership, peers, customers, and suppliers
  • Flexibility to collaborate across global teams, including occasional non-standard hours
  • Familiarity with CAE tools such as HyperMesh, ANSA, AMEsim, ADAMS/MBD tools, Actran, Python, and/or MATLAB

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering with specialization in NVH, FEA, or Physics
  • 5+ years of experience in 3D FEA analysis of propulsion systems
  • Strong programming skills in MATLAB and/or Python
  • Experience with multidisciplinary optimization (MDO)
  • Deep understanding of signal processing
  • Recognition as a technical leader in FEA modeling tools
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in AI/ML applications —leveraging data-driven methods, automation, or intelligent tools to enhance modeling, improve predictive accuracy, and drive engineering efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Lead high-impact analytical work by building, troubleshooting, and executing complex models to evaluate dynamic stress, noise, and vibration performance
  • Translate analysis into influence —deliver clear, compelling design recommendations to DREs, N&V engineers, and leadership
  • Champion virtualization by advancing simulation capabilities that reduce reliance on physical testing and accelerate engineering decisions
  • Communicate with clarity and confidence —present complex technical findings in a way that drives alignment and action across diverse audiences
  • Drive excellence in standard work by developing, refining, and scaling best practices and procedures
  • Make an impact across the full lifecycle —support programs from concept through production with optimized, customer-ready CAE models
  • Lead capability-building initiatives that push the boundaries of propulsion NVH analysis
  • Actively pursue efficiency gains through cost reduction, size optimization, and performance improvements
  • Inspire and elevate the team through technical leadership, mentorship, and a strong, positive presence
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships and effectively collaborate with Advanced, Program, Design Release, Validation, and NVH teams to deliver integrated solutions

Benefits

  • From day one, we're looking out for your well-being–at work and at home–so you can focus on realizing your ambitions.
