About The Position

Xcel Energy is seeking candidates to support the Converged environment in Golden, CO. This paid internship will provide valuable experience and training in the virtualization environment, specifically vSphere. The Converged environment supports myriad critical applications in a cloud environment. Candidates would get exposure to the underlying hardware enabling the sharing of physical resources, CPUs, RAM, Disk, and Networking. Also, the intern will get familiar with our asset management/ticketing tool, ServiceNow.

Requirements

• Current student, Sophomore or Junior status only (as of Fall 2026).
• Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Computer Science/ Computer Engineering.
• Able to commute to the Lookout Center location in Golden CO or corporate office in Denver, CO - Hybrid Schedule
• Able to work part time during the fall (up to 20 hours a week).

Nice To Haves

• 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher
• Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework, including classes in Computer Science/Computer Engineering
• Knowledge of Unix/Windows/Virtualization

Responsibilities

• Asset management in ServiceNow
• Supporting the underlying infrastructure for the Converged environment
• Patching/updating Dell and Cisco hardware
• Support and get familiar with Aria Suite
• Support and get familiar with vSphere, VCF, and vCenter
• Troubleshoot issues in vSphere
