About The Position

Verterra Energy is seeking a motivated individual to join their composites team as an Entry Level Composites Technician. This role offers comprehensive training, allowing individuals with no prior composites experience to learn the trade from the ground up. The successful candidate will work closely with a senior technician, contributing to the fabrication of critical components for hydro turbines that must withstand harsh underwater conditions. The role emphasizes a strong work ethic, coachability, attention to detail, and reliability, as the quality of the parts produced is paramount.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong written and spoken English
• Ability to read safety procedures and technical instructions
• Ability to follow verbal direction precisely
• Reliable transportation to New Brighton, MN

Nice To Haves

• Any hands-on background (auto body, boats, fabrication, custom builds, mechanical work, model-building, restoration projects)
• Experience building things with hands and caring about the outcome

Responsibilities

• Layup of carbon fiber, fiberglass, and other composite materials
• Mold preparation, release agents, and surface finishing
• Vacuum bagging and resin infusion
• Trimming, sanding, and post-cure finishing
• Quality inspection on parts that go into hydro turbines
• Contamination control (clean bench, clean tools, clean habits)
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe composites bay
• Support the wider shop as builds come together
