About The Position

Verterra Energy is seeking a sharp, motivated individual to join their composites team and learn the trade from the ground up. While no prior composites experience is required as training will be provided, the ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. The role involves working closely with a senior technician to fabricate parts for hydro turbines that must withstand harsh underwater conditions. This position offers a career path in a high-demand trade with opportunities for growth within the company.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong written and spoken English proficiency
  • Ability to read safety procedures and technical instructions
  • Ability to follow verbal direction precisely
  • Reliable transportation to New Brighton, MN

Nice To Haves

  • Any hands-on background such as auto body, boat building, fabrication, custom builds, mechanical work, model-building, or restoration projects
  • Experience building things with hands and a focus on quality finishing

Responsibilities

  • Layup of carbon fiber, fiberglass, and other composite materials
  • Mold preparation, release agents, and surface finishing
  • Vacuum bagging and resin infusion
  • Trimming, sanding, and post-cure finishing
  • Quality inspection on parts that go into hydro turbines
  • Contamination control to ensure part integrity
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe composites bay
  • Supporting the wider shop during build processes
