About The Position

The Finishing Team Lead supports the Project Lead in overseeing a small, dedicated team within the Finishing Department. This role is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and maintaining production activities related to specific projects. The Finishing Team Lead ensures team members are properly trained, processes are followed, and production goals are met while maintaining quality, safety, and a respectful work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in composites lamination
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Consistent and reliable attendance record
  • Demonstrates a commitment to fostering a positive and respectful work environment
  • Effective interpersonal skills; collaborates well across teams and departments
  • Adaptable to changing work environments, priorities, and production schedules
  • Able to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, and contribute to team success

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and work in various physical conditions
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident in compliance with ITAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Lead with rolling out new parts and training new team members
  • Coach and supervise team members to ensure project success
  • Facilitate daily operational processes and team coordination
  • Support Project Lead with material inventory control and waste reduction
  • Monitor material usage and report scrap/waste in accordance with procedures
  • Ensure adherence to Finishing Best Practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation (e.g., checklists, ply books)
  • Reinforce compliance with procedures and report any discrepancies
  • Assist with controlling and reviewing part quality throughout production
  • Notify Project Lead of Cost of Poor-Quality (COPQ) concerns
  • Support and coach team members through quality-related issues
  • Promote and maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Reinforce cleaning procedures and workplace standards
  • Contribute to a respectful and positive work environment
  • Report any improper behavior or conduct to Finishing Leads
  • Ensure team members are wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Address PPE violations and escalate as needed
  • Provide input on employee performance evaluations
  • Offer suggestions for improving operational efficiency
  • Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental policies
  • Report safety risks and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned
