About The Position

The working lead position has been created to provide shift support in the areas of quality and productivity improvement. This is a “hands on” position with key responsibilities including providing training on fundamentals for manufacturing associates to improve workmanship and productivity, performing cross-training to support cell development and improve throughput, identifying opportunities for methods and documentation improvement and training associates on new procedures, performing workmanship audits to verify training effectiveness and compliance to procedure, being a champion for scrap and rework related issues, interfacing with manufacturing, quality, and engineering, assisting with administrative duties such as production schedule updates, time card review, and training documentation, assisting supervision in maintaining proper product flow, assisting and supporting the 6S program, filling in for other operatives when there is a need, and being trained, certified and/or qualified to perform a minimum of 50% of the operations in the area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Must possess good interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Proven track record working in a team environment.
  • Significant experience in casting manufacturing product processes.
  • Previous training experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a minimum of 4 of the following 7 areas: Skill Requirement Certified to perform 50% of the operations in assigned area Certified to perform 65% of the operations in assigned area Certified to perform 80%+ of the operations in assigned area
  • Moderate initiative and ingenuity required.
  • Moderate physical effort required.
  • Routinely move 5-15 pounds, 2 or more times per hour.
  • Responsible for the productivity and quality of 5 – 25 Operative employees.
  • Must be willing to work daily overtime and weekend overtime as necessary.
  • Meeting daily cell/department goals for ESH and Variable Cost.
  • Audit rejects at final or next operation at <2%.
  • Job-card to Time-clock attendance matching weekly.
  • Assuring employees are compliant with Environmental, Health & Safety requirements.
  • Effective communication of goals/objectives to associates.
  • Maintain a clean & organized work area.

Nice To Haves

  • High school plus some post-secondary education a plus.
