About The Position

LifeServe Blood Center is seeking a part-time Component Technician to join their lab team. The role involves manufacturing whole blood donations into transfusable components such as red cells, platelets, and plasma, playing a crucial part in the lifesaving process for patients. This manufacturing process utilizes standard operating procedures (SOPs) and equipment like centrifuges. Component Technicians are also responsible for instrument quality control and maintenance. The position is part-time, typically Tuesday-Friday with occasional Saturdays, and hours will vary based on business and processing needs. Compensation starts at $18.75/hr, with a night shift differential of $4.00/hr for hours worked between 6pm and 6am, and a weekend shift differential of $2.00/hr.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• The ability to multitask and set priorities is essential.
• This position requires use of knowledge and judgement to ensure accuracy of tasks related to quality.
• Proficiency with computers is a must.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree or higher preferred.
• Experience with MS Office is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process blood components according to established policy and SOP.
• Perform review of component manufacturing and equipment related documentation and release of quality control results.
• Perform calibration and maintenance tasks.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and document problems that may influence the quality or completion of blood manufacturing.
• Assist with validation of new equipment and manufacturing processes.
• Perform data entry and navigation within multiple computer programs.
