About The Position

Tenstorrent is a leader in cutting-edge AI technology, aiming to revolutionize performance, ease of use, and cost efficiency. As AI redefines the computing paradigm, solutions must integrate innovations across software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our team has developed a high-performance RISC-V CPU from scratch and is passionate about building the best AI platform. We value collaboration, curiosity, and solving complex problems. We are expanding our team and seeking contributors at all seniority levels. Tenstorrent is seeking a Component Engineer passionate about selecting the right components, optimizing costs, and ensuring the availability of critical components for scalable AI compute systems. This role bridges hardware design, supply chain strategy, and vendor management to ensure timely delivery of AI platforms without delays caused by component shortages or supply chain risks. This is an on-site role, based in Santa Clara, California, or Toronto, Canada. We welcome candidates with various experience levels; the appropriate level will be determined during the interview process, and offers will align accordingly.

  • Understanding of both technical performance and real-world availability of components.
  • Comfortable working through tradeoffs like cost, performance, and supply risk.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering and supply chain teams to find practical solutions.
  • Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the Approved Vendor List (AVL) to shape the component foundation for next-generation AI compute systems.
  • Drive smart multi-sourcing strategies to keep programs moving forward.
  • Work closely with hardware, supply chain, and procurement teams to ensure the selection of components based on performance, cost efficiency, availability, and long-term scalability.
  • Stay ahead of component lifecycle changes, market shifts, lead times, and supplier health to enable proactive risk mitigation and informed design decisions.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and improve sourcing strategies.
  • Enable smooth transitions through fast-moving product lifecycles.
  • Evaluate new technologies and qualify components.
  • Help shape long-term hardware roadmaps.
