Compliance Technology Intern

Jain Global•New York, NY
•$182,000 - $234,000

About The Position

Jain Global is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join its Compliance Technology team for the summer of 2027. The intern will support the firm’s compliance function by developing technology solutions that help meet regulatory obligations. Working with senior engineers and the Legal & Compliance team, the intern will design, build, and deliver an end-to-end project: a working tool that automates a process currently handled manually by the Compliance team. The role includes writing production-quality code, working with real data, and partnering directly with compliance officers and engineers. The project will be selected from the 2027 roadmap based on team priorities and the intern’s skills. Potential areas include internal monitoring tools that ingest trading or activity data, apply compliance rules, and surface exceptions for review, or automated team metrics and reporting pipelines that replace manual spreadsheets with a repeatable, auditable system. The intern will work within an engineering workflow that includes version control, code review, and testing before release. Expected deliverables include a stakeholder-reviewed requirements and design document, an end-to-end prototype, a feature-complete tool with a dashboard or interface, automated tests and a validation summary, user and technical documentation, and a final presentation to Compliance and Technology leadership.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with expected graduation in 2028 (rising senior).
  • Proficient in Python or another general-purpose programming language such as Java or C#.
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience with Git and a solid grasp of data structures and algorithms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Curious mindset and willingness to learn quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with React/TypeScript or another front-end framework, and REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake, Postgres/MySQL, or AWS.
  • Exposure to Docker or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Prior internship or substantial personal or academic projects.
  • Interest in financial markets, trading systems, or regulatory technology.

Responsibilities

  • Translate policies and compliance requirements into a technical design in collaboration with senior developers and Compliance stakeholders.
  • Write clean, tested code in Python and SQL, with front-end work as needed.
  • Build dashboards or web interfaces that provide compliance users with clear, actionable views of exceptions or metrics.
  • Validate system output against manual results to confirm accuracy and support auditability.
  • Present project progress in weekly check-ins and demos.
  • Develop data ingestion pipelines, rules or metrics engines, user-facing interfaces, logging, error handling, and documentation as relevant to the project.
  • Deliver a final demo and presentation to Compliance and Technology leadership, including recommendations for next steps.
