About The Position

Support the implementation and operation of the Compliance Program, including but not limited to the coordination of the Conflict of Interest process; Compliance Hotline, review of excluded/sanctioned persons, the Open Payments Act, non-monetary compensation and general operations/compliance reviews. This includes the establishment of workflows, guidance documents and tools, risk/gap analysis, policies and procedures reviews, software analysis and maintenance and implementation of processes and communication with effected parties to assist Cooper in ongoing compliance with federal, state and other regulatory requirements. Reviews to be performed are identified based on the compliance risk analyses and work plan. Customers include employed providers, senior leadership, clinical and non-clinical staff of Cooper University Health Care. Serve as liaison for questions, concerns, incidents and complaints regarding compliance matters, responding directly to the inquiry and/or consulting or interacting with other team members or departments. Inform Chief Compliance Officer of major findings; based on types of questions/concerns received, recommend remedial correction and prevention actions; identify education/awareness opportunities and guidance topics Work with all levels within the organization to ensure that internal controls throughout the system provide for accurate, complete and compliance program and processes

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the essential elements of an effective compliance program, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of HIPAA rules and regulations affecting the management of confidential protected health information (PHI).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of federal and state statutes, laws, rules and regulations with specific knowledge, including but not limited to Stark, Anti-Kickback, excluded providers, conflict of interest, non-monetary compensation, research billing, coding and documentation practices in support of healthcare services provided to beneficiaries of federally-funded healthcare programs and other third party payers.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of sampling technologies and statistical analyses.
  • Experience using personal computers required.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, delegate and organize various tasks/projects simultaneously to ensure goals are met within established timeframes.
  • Ability to conduct effective and accurate regulatory research and analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  • Establish and maintain professional and effective relationships with internal and external entities.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Current CHC credential required or obtained within 24 months of employment.
  • Current CHRC credential required or obtained within 36 months of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance per company policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Word, Excel, e-mail, and healthcare related billing systems.
  • Experience using MDAudit audit software and/or EPIC EMR desirable.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Academic healthcare experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Obtain CHC credential within 24 months of employment.
  • Obtain CHRC credential within 36 months of employment.
