About The Position

As the Compliance Specialist, you’ll ensure affordable housing compliance for the property by maintaining regulatory accuracy, supporting audits, and serving as a subject matter expert across applicable housing programs. This role involves overseeing and maintaining affordable housing compliance for assigned properties, serving as a subject matter expert on regulations like LIHTC, Project-Based Section 8, Tax-Exempt Bonds, and HOME. You will monitor regulatory changes, guide potential residents through the application process, establish compliant rents and income limits, and ensure accurate reporting. Additionally, you will conduct file reviews, prepare for and respond to agency audits, partner with property management teams, and maintain relationships with housing agencies and other stakeholders. You will also provide guidance and training to onsite associates on compliance requirements, all while maintaining integrity, accountability, and professionalism that reflects premium brand standards.

Requirements

Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in affordable housing compliance.
Demonstrated experience with LIHTC compliance.
Experience responding to agency file and/or physical audits.
Experience completing required affordable housing agency reporting.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local affordable housing regulations.
Ability to maintain accurate compliance data and documentation across systems and reports.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Project‑Based Section 8, Tax‑Exempt Bonds, and HOME preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee and maintain affordable housing compliance for assigned affordable housing property.

Establish and maintain compliant rents, income limits, and utility allowances.
Ensure accurate, complete, and timely compliance reporting by maintaining reliable tenant, rent, and eligibility data used for internal tracking, agency submissions, and stakeholder reporting.
Conduct file reviews to confirm eligibility, documentation accuracy, and ongoing regulatory compliance.
Prepare for and respond to agency file and physical audits, including follow‑up documentation and corrective actions.
Partner with property management teams to identify compliance risks and implement adjustments.
Maintain effective working relationships with housing agencies, contract administrators, investors, and syndicators.
Provide guidance and training to onsite associates on affordable housing compliance requirements as needed.
Maintain integrity, accountability, and reliability in all aspects of performance.
