About The Position

This role involves monitoring various activities and operations within Taranaki to ensure compliance with Council rules, policies, and resource consents. The Compliance Officer will identify and report non-compliance incidents, conduct evidential investigations, and recommend enforcement actions under the Resource Management Act. Responsibilities include responding to pollution events, participating in an on-call roster for regional response, and proactively engaging with the community to promote compliance. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 2 years.

Requirements

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to investigate and write concise reports for both industrial and rural activities.
Strong computer literacy.
Experience in either forestry, farming, or industrial practice, particularly treatment and disposal methods for agricultural and industrial wastes.
A current full driver’s licence.
Ability to be flexible and agile in practice to provide outcome.
Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple jobs.

Nice To Haves

Relevant tertiary qualification.
Knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991.
