About The Position

This is a remote position for active-duty military personnel transitioning out of the military and eligible for the SkillBridge program. The Cybersecurity Compliance Internship Program is designed to provide interns with business and technical exposure to core elements of the cybersecurity discipline. The internship will last for a minimum of 90 days and aims to facilitate a smooth transition to a civilian career in Cybersecurity. Interns will gain private-sector experience and expand their skill set with the latest security methods and technology. Candidates must live in or near Dallas, TX, or be willing to relocate if offered a permanent position. All candidates are required to pass a background check and must be approved by a commanding officer.

Requirements

  • Currently serving in the United States military
  • Eligible for the SkillBridge program
  • Seeking an associate, bachelor, or master's degree in cybersecurity, computer engineering, or a related discipline
  • Exposure to core information security functions, including network and application vulnerability testing, role-based access control (RBAC), security information and event management, and/or computer incident management
  • At least two years of information technology experience
  • Exposure to three or more of the following security technologies: Certified in Sec+, CCP, CCA or equivalent, Experience with NIST SP 800-171, SP 800-53, CSF, or RMF, Experience with Azure, GCC, GCC-High, Knowledgeable in firewalls, malware protection, and IPS, Knowledgeable in network vulnerability testing, Knowledgeable with encryption technologies (e.g., IPSec, SSL), Knowledgeable with home office environments and Internet connectivity to enable remote work from home
  • Must pass a background check prior to beginning work
  • Must be approved for the program by a commanding officer
  • Desire and ability to learn quickly, a great attitude, and good work ethic

Responsibilities

  • Audit servers, firewalls, and Microsoft 365 configuration
  • Develop monthly CMMC compliance report
  • Lead CMMC compliance, risk & security assessments
  • Manage development and sustainment of customer’s artifacts collection (evidentiary)
  • Manage development and sustainment of customer’s POA&M and SSP
  • Manage development and sustainment of organizational GRC (including policies, standards, procedures)
  • Manage development and sustainment of organizational security awareness programs (CUI Training, Insider Threat, Annual Awareness, Privileged User)
  • Manage the organization’s GRC toolkit
  • Manage the organization’s Incident Response Program
  • Participate in industry-related activities and customer meetings
  • Author three 1,000-word articles/blogs on cybersecurity-related topics
