About The Position

As a Compliance Associate, you will support risk management and compliance initiatives for corporate-owned, bank-owned, and retail life insurance products distributed primarily through third-party brokers. You will partner across the business, and with Compliance, Legal, Risk Management, and other teams to help ensure products, distribution activities, and business processes comply with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of life insurance products, distribution channels, regulatory requirements, corporate governance, internal controls, and risk management principles.
  • Ability to interpret and apply requirements, identify and escalate potential compliance risks, and develop practical recommendations within established policies and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate complex compliance matters clearly and collaborate effectively with business partners, management, auditors, regulators, brokers, and external clients.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field and/or equivalent experience
  • 2 - 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply federal and state insurance and securities laws, rules, and regulations applicable to fixed and variable life insurance products, including private placement products.
  • Ability to coordinate responses to complex regulatory, audit, and business inquiries while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide well-supported recommendations to business partners, management, auditors, regulators, brokers, and external clients.
  • Series SIE and Series 6 required within one year of employment.

  • Knowledge of corporate-owned, bank-owned, retail, fixed, variable, and private placement life insurance products.
  • Understanding of internal controls, corporate governance, risk management principles, and third-party distribution operations.
  • Ability to identify control gaps and recommend process improvements based on audit findings, compliance reviews, and periodic assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct operational due diligence of insurance dedicated funds, third-party administrators, and vendors to identify and assess compliance and operational risks.
  • Coordinate responses to customer and regulatory inquiries, complaints, audits, examinations, and internal or external reviews, ensuring information is accurate, timely, and complete.
  • Support third-party distribution compliance by reviewing producer and servicer licensing, contracts, appointments, compensation schedules, and required annual compliance certifications.
  • Assist with updates to prospectuses and private placement memoranda, and ensure required regulatory communications are provided to policy owners accurately and on time.
  • Draft risk and compliance reports for senior leaders and control partners, recommend practical improvements to strengthen controls, and monitor responsible use of AI to enhance day-to-day efficiency and effectiveness.
