About The Position

Esri is seeking a Competitive Intelligence Analyst with knowledge of GIS technology and enterprise technology vendors. The role evaluates vendor offerings, architectures, positioning, and intentions in the context of technical, geopolitical, and industry shifts, then turns complex findings into timely, actionable guidance that supports product strategy and sales execution. The work combines hands-on technical analysis, strategic synthesis, and executive communication to help teams understand the competitive landscape. The analyst defines research questions with stakeholders, selects and documents research methods and sources, and distinguishes evidence from interpretation. The role monitors assigned products, platforms, partnerships, roadmaps, positioning, and go-to-market activities, evaluates related technologies, and communicates evidence-based implications and recommendations. It also creates technical and executive enablement materials and contributes reusable research and artifacts to shared intelligence systems and practices. The analyst must observe legal and ethical obligations when conducting evaluations.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional experience using Esri or similar enterprise geospatial technology to create maps, perform spatial analysis, configure web applications, or support enterprise GIS workflows.
  • Ability to apply structured analysis to technical, market, third-party, customer, or product information and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong analytical judgment, intellectual curiosity, and ability to quickly develop domain knowledge across geospatial and adjacent technology markets.
  • Ability to explain complex technical topics clearly through written analysis, visual comparisons, presentations, and discussions with technical and executive audiences.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple research priorities against deadlines, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and form sound recommendations when competitive information is incomplete or evolving.
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, information systems, business, or a related field.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in solution engineering, technical consulting, GIS architecture, implementation, customer success, or another role requiring the design and communication of technical solutions.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, geodatabases, web GIS, and common enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS and adjacent technologies such as data science, imagery, 3D, autonomous systems, or developer platforms.
  • Programming or scripting experience with Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, or notebooks for technical evaluation and automation.
  • Experience conducting competitive, market, or technical intelligence, including capability benchmarking, win/loss analysis, scenario analysis, or similar methods.
  • Experience evaluating enterprise technology architectures, integrations, deployment models, security considerations, and technical tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

  • Define intelligence questions and desired outcomes with stakeholders, translate them into suitable research methods, document sources and confidence intervals, and distinguish evidence from interpretation.
  • Translate technical findings into competitive implications and decision-ready insights about ArcGIS value, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions for teams across the company.
  • Configure and leverage AI agents and other methods to monitor assigned products, platforms, partnerships, roadmaps, positioning, and go-to-market activities, and assess how technical, geopolitical, and industry shifts may affect third-party strategies, customer expectations, and Esri priorities.
  • Create and deliver enablement materials such as technical battlecards, demonstrations, architecture and workflow comparisons, executive briefings, reports, presentations, and field-ready talking points.
  • Contribute reusable research, technical artifacts, and lessons learned to shared intelligence systems and team operating practices.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of adjacent technologies, including architecture reviews, integration analysis, and comparisons of capabilities, limitations, and tradeoffs, while observing legal and ethical obligations.
  • Present evidence-based findings to technical and non-technical audiences, adapting the level of detail to the decision at hand and serving as a trusted advisor on assigned companies, technologies, industries, and ArcGIS capabilities.
