About The Position

The Benefits & Compensation Specialist is responsible for administering and supporting the Company's compensation and benefits programs to ensure competitive, equitable, and compliant practices. This role partners with HR leadership, managers, payroll, finance, and external vendors to administer employee benefit programs, conduct compensation analyses, maintain job and salary structures, support annual compensation reviews, and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of compensation and benefits administration in a multi-state manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in compensation, benefits, or total rewards administration.
  • Experience supporting multi-state operations preferred.
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Experience administering 401(k), health and welfare plans, and compensation programs.
  • Experience utilizing compensation survey tools and salary benchmarking resources.
  • Experience with compensation structures, pay transparency compliance, and job architecture projects.
  • Experience supporting compensation committees and annual merit planning processes.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles and salary administration.
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefit programs and applicable regulations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including data analysis, pivot tables, and reporting.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Administer compensation programs, salary structures, pay grades, and compensation policies.
  • Conduct market pricing and benchmarking studies using salary surveys and compensation databases.
  • Analyze internal and external compensation data to ensure competitive and equitable pay practices.
  • Support annual compensation planning, merit increases, promotional increases, and market adjustments.
  • Assist managers and HR leadership with job evaluations and compensation recommendations.
  • Maintain job descriptions and ensure proper alignment within the organization's salary structure.
  • Prepare compensation reports, dashboards, and analytics for leadership review.
  • Monitor pay equity and compression concerns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in salary range development, maintenance, and administration.
  • Supports compliance with pay transparency and wage disclosure requirements.
  • Administer employee benefit programs including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Disability Programs (STD/LTD), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and retirement plans.
  • Serve as primary contact for employee benefit questions and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment activities and employee communications.
  • Work with benefit brokers, vendors, and insurance carriers to resolve claims and coverage issues.
  • Conduct benefit audits and eligibility reviews to ensure data accuracy.
  • Process qualifying life events and benefit changes.
  • Assist with benefit plan renewals and annual benefit market evaluations.
  • Support employee education and communication regarding benefit offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Assist with annual compliance filings and reporting requirements, including 5500 filings and related benefit plan documentation.
  • Support internal and external audits related to compensation and benefit programs.
  • Maintain accurate employee and compensation records within the HRIS.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting compensation and benefits programs.
  • Maintain compensation and benefits data within HRIS systems.
  • Generate and analyze compensation, benefits, and workforce reports.
  • Conduct regular audits of HR, payroll, and benefits data.
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate processing of compensation and benefit-related transactions.
  • Create and maintain compensation and benefits procedures and documentation.
  • Participate in compensation and benefits projects, program enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Assist with implementation of new compensation initiatives and benefit programs.
  • Support employee engagement and retention initiatives through competitive total rewards programs.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership regarding compensation and benefits trends, risks, and opportunities.
