Companion Caregiver
About The Position
CareOne Senior Care is hiring a dependable, compassionate caregiver to provide in-home care and personal assistance to a couple in Waterford, Michigan. The ongoing opportunity involves companionship, support with daily routines and personal care, and helping clients remain comfortable and independent in their home. Recurring daytime and evening shifts are available Monday through Sunday, based on caregiver availability and client needs. Applicants may be considered for one or both shift options; a consistent weekly schedule is especially desired. Pay is up to $22.50 per hour. The posting says training and guidance are provided as applicable to the assignment.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Reliable transportation to and from the client’s home.
- For assignments involving driving: valid driver’s license, current vehicle insurance, and vehicle registration.
- Working cell phone for communication and scheduling.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to follow client care plans and company policies.
- Ability to successfully complete the required background screening.
- Current TB test or willingness to obtain one before employment begins.
Nice To Haves
- Previous caregiver, home health aide, personal care, or direct care experience is preferred.
- Experience in senior care or elderly care.
- Experience in in-home caregiving or companion care.
- Experience with personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, and hygiene assistance.
- Experience with meal preparation and household assistance.
- Experience with mobility assistance and transfers.
- Experience caring for multiple clients in a household.
- Flexible availability and reliable transportation are encouraged.
- Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly companionship, meaningful conversation, emotional support, and encouragement with daily activities and routines.
- Assist with everyday needs while promoting clients’ independence and maintaining a positive, respectful environment.
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, personal hygiene, and incontinence care as needed.
- Support safe mobility and transfers according to the client’s care plan.
- Provide reminders and assistance with daily routines while respecting each client’s privacy, dignity, and preferences.
- Assist with meal preparation and serving meals; pick up lunch and dinner as assigned.
- Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and household tasks related to client care, and help keep frequently used areas organized and safe.
- Follow individualized client care plans and company procedures.
- Communicate important updates or concerns to the CareOne Senior Care office and maintain professional communication with clients and family members.
- Complete required shift documentation and report changes in clients’ condition or care needs.
