About The Position

Visiting Angels Amarillo is seeking a compassionate, dedicated Companion Caregiver to support clients in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. The role serves individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, and dementia, and focuses on improving clients’ quality of life through personal care and companionship. The Amarillo office serves communities throughout the Panhandle, including Amarillo, Claude, Hereford, Dumas, Borger, Fritch, Canyon, and Pampa. Caregivers may work full-time or part-time, with shifts offered in 8-, 10-, or 12-hour lengths, as well as PRN and short shifts. Visiting Angels describes its work environment as recognized by the 2016–2017 Caregiver Choice Awards, based on votes from caregivers and aides.

Requirements

Experience in caregiving or a related field.
Knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques.
Familiarity with patient monitoring and vital-sign assessment.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy.
Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for client support.
Compassion, patience, and dedication to providing respectful, quality care.

Nice To Haves

Home health or hospice care experience.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders.
Experience in memory care or Alzheimer’s care settings.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Monitor vital signs and observe changes in clients’ health or behavior.
Prepare meals and assist with meal planning in accordance with dietary restrictions.
Perform light housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Administer prescribed medications and support adherence to care plans.
Engage clients in social activities that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
Use equipment such as Hoyer lifts to transfer clients safely.
Document care provided and communicate concerns or changes in client status to healthcare professionals.
