About The Position

Visiting Angels of Owensboro is hiring a Companion Caregiver to serve senior adults and home-care clients throughout the local area, including Henderson, Owensboro, Spottsville, and Stanley. Caregivers help clients remain at home or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary by client and may involve personal care, household tasks, wellness support, errands, meal preparation, and mobility assistance. Caregivers must also be prepared to respond promptly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
Compassion and a desire to provide meaningful companionship to vulnerable people.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Perform light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, according to client ability.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, attending doctor visits, and taking walks.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
Report health changes or unusual circumstances.
