About The Position

This is a full-time ACC AmeriCorps position with Mobile Communidad (DBA JDC Community Foundation). The American Connection Corps (ACC) is a service fellowship program aimed at helping communities build the digital connectivity necessary to expand opportunity and economic mobility. ACC Members spend a year serving with locally-rooted organizations, helping address the digital divide and strengthen access to opportunity. Mobile Communidad's mission is to provide accessibility to healthy food, technology, literacy, and economic stability through community engagement and collaborative partnerships. The ACC Member will serve as a Community Technology Liaison, providing hands-on technology assistance, building digital confidence among underserved residents, and connecting people to resources and referrals in healthcare, employment, and civic engagement. The role is flexible and place-driven, supporting staff in identifying community digital access needs and responding through approved service activities. The Member will not provide case management, determine eligibility for benefits or services, or perform independent program management or professional technology consulting. Impact will be measured through service activities and outcomes documented in accordance with program requirements.

Requirements

  • Passion for community service and connecting neighbors to digital tools, skills, and opportunities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Interest in gaining experience in community development or digital inclusion.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident.
  • Hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Be 17 years of age or older by the start of service.
  • Have not already served four (4) or more AmeriCorps State/National terms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one assistance to residents with internet connectivity, device use, and basic to intermediate digital literacy.
  • Help residents access online services related to healthcare, employment, education, and benefits by providing information, digital navigation support, and referrals.
  • Assist staff with identifying participant learning needs and preparing appropriate training plans.
  • Help adapt or assist staff in developing and updating curriculum and materials for individual and small-group training sessions.
  • Support the delivery of training sessions tailored to varying digital skill levels and age groups.
  • Assist Broadband Working Group leadership in gathering information regarding community technology needs through direct resident engagement.
  • Help gather and organize input from residents, businesses, and community organizations to inform Broadband Working Group priorities.
  • Support outreach efforts that help connect Broadband Working Group initiatives to tangible community impacts.
  • Assist with the design and distribution of outreach materials to publicize available services and training.
  • Support community presence at local events, schools, and gathering spaces to build awareness of digital resources.
  • Help draft short articles or updates for local newsletters, websites, or regional media.
  • Track participation in technology assistance and training activities in accordance with program procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Help compile data and resident stories to support reporting and program improvement.
  • Support relationship-building with the Fort Davis library, Fort Davis ISD, Jeff Davis County, local businesses, and other community organizations.
  • Share observations and resident feedback with JDCCF staff and Broadband Working Group leadership.
  • Coordinate and carry out assigned service activities, maintain awareness of community needs identified through approved service activities, and provide regular updates to the Site Supervisor.
