About The Position

This position involves assisting in the monitoring of a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a primary focus on maintaining a safe environment. The role requires being part of a team committed to engaging individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner while performing rounds and addressing their varied needs. The Community Technician will manage conflict or challenging behaviors with self-awareness, emphasizing safety and building trust, while understanding each person's unique experience. Responsibilities include screening residents and visitors, creating written documentation such as logbook entries, incident reports, and progress notes, managing inventory for supplies, maintaining fire safety drills and logs, and providing emergency first aid/CPR assistance/NARCAN when needed. The role also involves assisting with inspections and audits, escorting clients, serving meals, and helping to maintain an orderly and clean facility. Related duties as assigned. This position is subject to mandatory overtime.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • CPR Certification or the ability to obtain certification required
  • NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or the ability to obtain certification required
  • Basic computer literacy required
  • Effectively communicate with others both in writing and orally
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries

Nice To Haves

  • NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification
  • Security guard license preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire license
  • Food Handler Certificate preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification
  • TB clearance when required
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred
  • Bilingual abilities a plus
  • Vaccination preferred but not required
