Requirements

• Diploma in Human Services or equivalent education (e.g., Community Support Worker, Therapeutic Recreation).
• Experience supporting people with a variety of abilities to access activities that take place in the community.
• Experience providing support to adults with developmental and physical disabilities.
• Experience physically assisting people with personal care needs in a respectful and safe manner.
• Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Support techniques.
• Knowledge and experience in skill-based training.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with individuals and families.
• Class 5 Driver's License.
• Satisfactory driving record.
• Required to use personal vehicle.
• Current Community Care First Aid/CPR, NVCI, Food Safe certificates.
• BCGEU union membership.

Nice To Haves

• Class 4 Unrestricted Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance and support to people with developmental and physical disabilities.
• Co-design and provide creative opportunities that facilitate learning and participation through accessing the community.
• Reflect and respect the personal preferences, goals, and choices of each person supported.
• Provide one-to-one and group skill development and independence-building.
• Support individuals in their home or in the community to assist with transportation independence, financial management, cooking skills, and general household management.
• Assist with building relationships and creating community connections.
