About The Position

Bayshore HealthCare is a leading provider of home and community health care services in Canada. As a Community Support Worker, you will support adults with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and/or Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) to live safely, independently, and meaningfully within their homes and communities. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, personal care, meal planning, housekeeping, medication reminders, community participation, and skill development. A significant focus of the role is on homemaking, housekeeping, organization, and decluttering to help clients maintain functional living environments. The successful candidate will build respectful, person-centred relationships, promoting dignity, choice, inclusion, and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Community Support Worker Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Current Food Safe Certificate.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), or other complex support needs.
  • Experience providing homemaking, housekeeping, household management, personal care, and activities of daily living support.
  • Comfortable working in diverse home environments, including homes requiring significant cleaning, organization, and decluttering support.
  • Experience supporting individuals to develop independence, life skills, healthy routines, and meaningful participation in their homes and communities.
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain professional boundaries, and follow individualized care plans.
  • Comfortable performing hands-on homemaking and housekeeping duties, including cleaning kitchens and bathrooms, laundry, vacuuming, mopping, decluttering, and general household organization.
  • Comfortable working in homes with pets, odors, clutter, and other environmental challenges while maintaining professionalism, respect, and a non-judgmental approach.
  • Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant education in Human Services, Social Services, Disability Support, Community Living, Health Care Assistance, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Experience using person-centred, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and positive behaviour support approaches is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are considered strong assets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, person-centred support to adults with developmental disabilities, ASD, and/or FASD.
  • Assist clients with homemaking tasks including cleaning, laundry, dishes, tidying, organizing living spaces, decluttering, and maintaining a safe and healthy home environment.
  • Support clients in developing housekeeping routines, organizational skills, and independent living practices.
  • Support clients with meal planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and other household management tasks.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including personal care, hygiene, grooming, dressing, and medication reminders as required.
  • Support participation in appointments, errands, recreational activities, and community-based opportunities.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships that promote dignity, independence, and quality of life.
  • Maintain professional boundaries while following care plans, documenting services, and reporting safety concerns or changes in client needs.
