About The Position

New Age Services Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Disability Practitioner to support individuals with diverse abilities and complex support needs in the Calgary community. You will work directly with individuals who may experience: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Developmental Disabilities, Mental Health Challenges, Schizophrenia, Complex Behaviours, Substance Use (Harm Reduction Approach), Trauma Histories, Communication Barriers, Medically Fragile Conditions. Our approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, ensuring every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and choice.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Have access to a reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2,000,000 liability insurance by the time of hire.
  • Be comfortable swimming or willing to enter a pool while wearing a life jacket to support individuals during aquatic activities.
  • Be comfortable working around pets and animals, including dogs and cats, in home and community settings.
  • Diploma or Degree in Disability Studies, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Internationally completed education may require a WES or IQAS assessment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Current certifications in First Aid/CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), APRP, Medication Administration, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Food Safety, or related Human Services training (or willingness to obtain).
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (or willingness to obtain).
  • Intermediate computer skills.

  • Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with daily living activities, recreation, employment goals, and community participation.
  • Implement and monitor individualized service plans.
  • Respond to behavioural and emotional needs using person-centered and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with agency policies and provincial regulations.
  • Collaborate with families, guardians, healthcare professionals, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Promote independence, self-advocacy, and quality of life.
