Community Support Worker - Visiting Program (Summer Student)
About The Position
PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES: Support isolated older adults including those with memory impairment due to dementia or other health conditions through in-home visits With the guidance of the Care Manager, identify activities of interest to individual clients Engage clients in planned activities during visits that can include conversation, walks, looking at photographs, creating scrapbooks, simple puzzles, games etc. Participate in program evaluation QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: Persons who are between 15 to 30 years of age are eligible Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations Currently enrolled in, or have completed post-secondary education in Social Work, Gerontology, Nursing or related program Experience working with older adults, including those with dementia Valid Ontario Driver’s License and insurance coverage in accordance with the company policy. Requirements
