Requirements

• Persons who are between 15 to 30 years of age are eligible
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
• Currently enrolled in, or have completed post-secondary education in Social Work, Gerontology, or related program
• Experience working with older adults
• Good understanding of Apple and Android phones/tablets and ability to problem solve issues
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License and insurance coverage in accordance with the company policy
• Access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel within Halton Region
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong initiative and ability to work independently
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Responsibilities

• Using a curriculum, provide 1:1 support to older adults to learn how to technology and increase digital literacy
• Assist with setting up and offering Tech Cafes, group event for older adults supported by students and volunteers to get technology support
• Participate in program evaluation
