About The Position
Provide community-based respite support to individuals with extraordinary support needs. This role focuses on enhancing quality of life by promoting independence, community participation, and meaningful daily experiences while ensuring health, safety, and person-centered care.
Requirements

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of person-centered practices and advocacy
- Ability to support individuals with diverse needs and abilities
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work every other weekend
- Ability to provide personal care (e.g., toileting, bathing, feeding) with dignity and respect
- Ability to safely assist with transfers and mobility support
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
- May be required to provide support in other Community Living programs (e.g., Supported Living, In-Home Services) as needed
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
- CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification
- Certified Restraint Training
- Core A & B certification
- Completion of required agency and regulatory trainings (e.g., Human Rights, Safety, Medication Administration)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
- Experience in providing direct service to people with developmental disabilities or experience in a volunteer or teaching capacity with persons with developmental disabilities is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Deliver respite services in alignment with each individual’s Individualized Support Plan (ISP)
- Support individuals with daily living skills, personal care, and community integration
- Foster independence, self-advocacy, and informed decision-making
- Provide transportation to community activities, appointments, and services as needed
- Monitor individual progress and communicate updates to the team
- Complete accurate and timely documentation, including service notes and medication records
- Build and maintain positive relationships with individuals, families, and community partners
- Support individuals in leisure, recreational, and social activities
- Provide crisis intervention and emergency support when necessary
