Position Summary The Community Services Manager provides operational oversight, and supervision to direct care staff across the Workforce and Compeer Programs. This position oversees service delivery, community engagement, and program operations to empower individuals facing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, housing instability, or criminal justice involvement

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, nonprofit management, or a related field required or AS degree in Human Services + 5 years of related experience or HS Diploma with at least 10 years of related experience.
  • Direct service or coordination experience in human services, supportive employment, community outreach, or volunteer coordination.
  • Strong experience working with populations facing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, or criminal justice history.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required for frequent travel for outreach and community engagement.
  • Mandatory background checks required due to work with vulnerable populations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or leading direct care staff or volunteers strongly preferred.
  • Deep alignment with "Employment First," recovery-oriented, strengths-based, and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Strong organizational, public speaking, conflict-resolution, and multi-file management skills.
  • Ability to lead and support direct care staff.
  • Comfort working independently with strong initiative and self-direction.
  • Strong communication skills for building relationships with both participants and local business owners.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records, data tracking systems, and office productivity software (Microsoft Office / Google Workspace).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, guide, and support direct care staff
  • Oversee day-to-day operations to maintain quality, person-centered support.
  • Conduct regular individual and team check-ins, offer field guidance, address match/boundary issues, and support problem-solving in complex participant scenarios.
  • Provide initial and ongoing training on recovery-oriented care, motivational interviewing, boundaries, and evidence-based practices.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with mental health providers, advisory board, local businesses, schools, and referral networks.
  • Facilitate or coordinate small group activities and social events.
  • Lead volunteer recruitment, screening, orientation, matching, and retention efforts for the Compeer mentoring initiative.
  • Support fundraising, including annual golf tournament, and public awareness efforts.
  • Oversee staff participation in multidisciplinary team settings, including monthly groups, meetings.
  • Develop strategies to identify and address barriers of securing and maintaining employment.
  • Advocate for reasonable workplace accommodations in competitive employment settings and present program initiatives to community stakeholders.
  • Represent the agency at community coalitions, public outreach events, and fundraising initiatives.
