About The Position

CHAI is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Community School Coordinator (CSC) to serve as a key leader at Cross Country Elementary/Middle School (CCEMS). The Community School Coordinator will collaborate closely with school leadership, families, educators, and community partners to support the whole child and strengthen the surrounding community. This role will help expand learning opportunities, connect families with essential resources, build strong partnerships, and foster meaningful family and community engagement. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, relationship‑focused, community‑minded, and ready to take initiative.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience working with youth, families, or community stakeholders
  • Experience in areas like mentoring, community organizing, resource development, program coordination, or volunteer management is highly valued
  • Ability to work on-site at the school and CHAI office
  • Occasional evenings and rare weekend events
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to drive locally (mileage reimbursed)
  • Comfort with data tracking, Microsoft Office, budgeting basics

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of Baltimore’s community resources and social services
  • Experience working with children, families, or diverse communities
  • Familiarity with community school principals and anti-oppression practices

Responsibilities

  • Build, grow, and coordinate partnerships that support student success and school priorities
  • Develop agreements with partners and secure additional resources and in‑kind support
  • Convene partners throughout the year for collaboration and planning
  • Serve on the Student Support and Attendance teams
  • Help identify student needs and coordinate appropriate supports, including home visits
  • Connect families to mental health, health, housing, and stability resources
  • Lead the School Family Council and key family engagement events
  • Support parent leadership and volunteer initiatives
  • Build relationships with neighborhood associations and community leaders
  • Track budgets, maintain records, and submit reporting and documentation
  • Collect data to measure program outcomes
  • Attend CHAI and district-required trainings and meetings
