About The Position

This position is responsible for managing and coordinating programs and services that support community engagement, particularly through the Police Athletic League. The Community Resource Coordinator plays a vital role in program development, securing funding through grant writing, and working with local nonprofit organizations to foster a safe and supportive environment for youth. The position involves a strong administrative component, including management of grant proposals, donor records, financials, and partnerships with various stakeholders. This posting will close after the receipt of the first 50 qualified applicants or 2 weeks (June 15 at 4:00 PM EST), whichever comes first.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three years of experience working in a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, including experience in program development, community outreach, or office administration.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other competencies necessary for success in the target position may be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid telephone number.
  • Strong office management and budgeting skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and nonprofit CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft grant proposals, prepare reports, and collaborate with diverse community members.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain meticulous records.
  • Engage with various community and ethnic groups, promoting the Police Athletic League's mission through partnerships and outreach.
  • Handle multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining focus on organizational objectives.
  • Research, draft, and submit grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government entities.
  • Strong familiarity with grant research databases and reporting requirements.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of grant writing experience with a proven track record of securing funding is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates programs that align with the Police Athletic League's mission to promote youth engagement and community-building activities.
  • Researches and identifies funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
  • Drafts compelling grant proposals and maintains compliance with funding requirements.
  • Maintains close relationships with community organizations, stakeholders, and social service agencies.
  • Collaborates with 501(c)(3) organizations to strengthen community services and support for youth programs.
  • Assists in fundraising activities, including donor cultivation, event planning, and maintaining relationships with supporters.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for community members, ensuring that resources and services are accessible and effectively utilized.
  • Builds and sustains relationships with local businesses, schools, law enforcement, and other community groups to enhance program outreach.
  • Maintains organized records of grant applications, funding reports, and donor information using nonprofit CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce or Bloomerang).
  • Oversees office management tasks such as scheduling, document preparation, budget tracking, and managing communications with various stakeholders.
  • May be required to participate in and/or facilitate training to support departmental or City initiatives and requirements.
  • May be required to work alternate hours as necessary for the efficient operation of the department.
  • Position is designated as Mission Critical.
