About The Position

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Community Residence Counselor (CRC) provides direct patient care and participates in the therapeutic milieu within the scope of defined practice. McLean’s 3East programs provide intensive dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) for adolescents and young adults, helping them develop skills to regulate emotions, manage stress and attention, improve relationships, and build self-awareness to support recovery. DBT is a clinically proven treatment for borderline personality disorder and depression in both adolescents and adults.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required
All employees must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems (PRISM) for communication, clinical and administrative purposes.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study preferred
Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License [State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred
One-year patient care or related experience preferred, preferably in a psychiatric setting
1-2 years preferred
Familiarity with Epic preferred

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care in accordance with current treatment plan, under the supervisor of the Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator and Charge Nurse.
Provides and supervises community activities according to needs.
Assists patients in maintaining and keeping various appointments.
Establishes relationships with patients that are helpful and maintains professional boundaries.
Participates in patient rounds, status checks, or teams per program guidelines.
Completes assigned patient care tasks per program guidelines and/or daily assignment sheet.
Works effectively to manage the therapeutic milieu.
Provides patients with direction and supervision as needed.
Follows established hospital & program policies, procedures, and protocols.
Communicates information regarding patient milieu/therapeutic environment to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
Communicates observations related to medication side effects, physical and emotional changes to appropriate medical staff in a timely manner.
Encourage patients in their activities of daily living.
Assesses sleep patterns and assists patients to develop more appropriate sleep cycles notifying clinical team as necessary.
Completes mandatory annual in-service requirements, including but not limited to: CPR and de-escalation.
Attends and participates in rounds and case conferences when appropriate.
Support residents with daily routines, medication reminders, meal preparation, transportation, and personal care as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
