About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining strategic partnerships and supporting the department's daily activities, including obtaining and scheduling events and community outreach. The role involves responding to inquiries, requests, and complaints from the public, and serving as a representative in the community through the development and maintenance of relationships with key community groups and external agencies. The ideal candidate possesses strong networking, communication, team-building, customer service, and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in community engagement, social services, constituent services or a closely related field.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in using a personal computer and common office software such as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Constant Contact, Adobe, and Canva.
  • Knowledge and skills in local community and community population.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software.
  • Ability to work with diverse citizen's groups.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of people and organizations.
  • Ability and experience to balance multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work with members of the public and departmental team.
  • Demonstrates a can-do attitude and is resourceful.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.
  • Ability to adapt to changes.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines at once.
  • Great written and oral skills working with the public.
  • Candidate must be familiar with areas of Northeast and East Harris County which includes North Channel, Channelview and Baytown.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate with individuals of various levels and assist with resolving issues.
  • Brainstorm and organize activities that help the court achieve its public relations goals.
  • Support the court's goals by raising community awareness of available services and resources.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Design and manage creative elements for community programs.
  • Create digital flyers, signage, and social media posts.
  • Assist with creative setup and breakdown of community events.
  • Maintain strategic partnerships and support of the department's daily activities.
  • Obtain and schedule events and community outreach.
  • Respond to written and telephone inquiries, requests, and complaints from the public.
  • Serve as a representative in the community through the development and maintenance of relationships with key community groups and external agencies.
