About The Position

The Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC) is seeking a passionate and organized Community Programs Coordinator to join their team. This full-time role focuses on managing and expanding essential programs that support pets and their owners in the community, such as the Community Cat Program, Rehome Assistance Program, and Community Pet Food Pantry. The coordinator will work to keep animals safe, healthy, and in loving homes by building community connections, coordinating programs, and providing resources. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on animal welfare beyond the shelter walls.

Requirements

  • Experience in animal welfare, community programs, volunteer management, customer service, or a related field.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with volunteers, community partners, donors, and the public.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and enjoyment in educating and engaging others.
  • Comfortable speaking with people from diverse backgrounds and addressing a variety of community needs.
  • Willingness to obtain Fear Free Animal Handling certification.
  • Ability to confidently represent HSSC in community settings and public-facing events.
  • Comfortable working with cats and dogs of varying sizes, breeds, temperaments, and medical needs.
  • Passion for animal welfare and alignment with HSSC's mission and values.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess Fear Free Animal Handling certification.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Community Cat Program, Rehome Assistance Program, and Community Pet Food Pantry.
  • Assist with TNVR requests, spay/neuter scheduling, veterinary partnerships, grant eligibility, and program logistics for the Community Cat Program.
  • Ensure pet food and supplies are accessible to community members through the Pet Food Pantry.
  • Maintain positive partnerships with veterinary providers, donors, service organizations, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent HSSC at community events and educate pet owners about available resources and services.
  • Maintain program records, reporting, inventory, data, and funding documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve services, strengthen partnerships, and increase community impact.
