About The Position

Make-A-Wish Canada's paid summer internship program is designed to provide students from all backgrounds with impactful non-profit work experience, fostering a deep understanding of the sector. The program equips students with hands-on experience and sector knowledge for their future careers while making meaningful contributions. Interns have the opportunity to work in their preferred areas of interest on significant projects alongside industry leaders. This specific internship is for a Community Partnerships Intern to join the Newfoundland & Labrador team. The role involves gaining real-world fundraising experience and providing mission and administrative support. This is a full-time summer internship at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a hybrid model (2 days in office/3 days work from home).

Requirements

  • Current student or a recent graduate.
  • Must be between 18 and 30 years of age (requirement of Canada Summer Jobs funding).
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (requirement of Canada Summer Jobs funding).
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
  • Comfortable in working with other team members and wish parents to gather information, if required.
  • A clear Criminal Background Check will be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Some related experience is preferred.
  • Access to reliable transportation for occasional local travel needs, an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide event management support for signature and community fundraising events.
  • Develop outreach communications and collateral to connect with supporters, including donors, corporate sponsors, event fundraisers, and volunteers.
  • Prospect research to identify new corporate partnership opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop customized stewardship touchpoints.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Foundation, specifically when communicating with donors and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare wish boxes for delivery to wish kids & their families.
  • Assist with wish presentations as needed.
  • Inventory the supply room and provide other office administration support.
  • Other duties as required.
