About The Position

Earthjustice is seeking law students for a summer law clerk position within its Community Partnerships Program. This program works in partnership with frontline communities to address environmental hazards and promote environmental benefits. The work involves challenging harmful systems, improving neighborhood environmental health, and representing impacted communities in legal actions against polluters, regulatory reform, and enforcement of environmental laws. Earthjustice, founded in 1971, uses the power of law and partnership to protect health, preserve natural places, advance clean energy, and combat climate change. The summer law clerkship is a paid position designed for students to gain experience in case development and litigation strategy.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a U.S. law school through fall 2027 (not graduating before December 2027)
  • Available to commit ten weeks during summer 2027
  • Must work from the U.S. during the clerkship
  • Resume
  • Cover letter addressing relevant background, interest in Earthjustice's mission and litigation teams, and inspiring environmental or public interest issues
  • Legal writing sample of no more than 10 pages
  • Unofficial transcript

Responsibilities
