KABOOM! works nationally to achieve playspace equity, ensuring every child has access to high-quality playspaces. They achieve this by empowering communities to build inspiring play spaces that create unlimited opportunities for children everywhere. KABOOM! views the right to play as a social justice issue, recognizing that systemic racism has led to disparities in play access for communities of color, and therefore centers racial equity in its pursuit of playspace equity. Community Outreach Managers (COM) are responsible for identifying and confirming child-serving organizations for playground project grants, assisting potential grantees through a rigorous screening process, and preparing them for playground projects. The COM role requires tenacity, organization, and strong communication skills. This internship offers a college student, recent graduate, or graduate student the opportunity to support Community Outreach Managers by learning to conduct market research for viable local organizations, outreach to potential grant candidates, shadow team members, and assist in data organization and presentation.
