About The Position

Clean Water Action is seeking a Community Organizer focused on Environmental Justice. This role is crucial in addressing the surge in proposed data center developments in Michigan, which often promise economic benefits that don't materialize while posing risks to water quality and increasing energy costs for communities. The organization aims to pass a moratorium on data center construction across the state to mitigate these negative impacts. The position involves organizing and fundraising with a field canvass team, empowering community members to advocate for policy changes, identifying volunteers, and participating in public events.

Requirements

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Availability at least through Election Day, November 3rd, 2026.

Responsibilities

Ensuring communities are aware of our issues and given the tools to achieve solutions by organizing and fundraising with our field canvass team.
Aiding community members in writing letters or otherwise contacting their lawmakers on these issues.
Identifying volunteers who will work with us to hold politicians accountable for their votes on environmental and health related issues.
Participating in occasional press conferences, lobby days, and other events.
